Peng Yi was born in minority group of Tujia, Zhangjiajie, Hunan province in 1973. He graduated successively from Huaihua Normal College Art Department, Hunan Normal University, and assistant teacher graduate class of Central Academy of Fine Arts Mural Department. He is a member of China Oil Painting Society, a member of China Ceramic Artists Association, a member of Hunan Artists Association, executive director and academic committee member of Zhuzhou Artists Association, chairman of Zhuzhou Oil Painting Research Association, a signed painter of Hunan Contemporary Oil Painting Institute. At present he is associate professor of Package Design Art Institute of Hunan University of Technology. His works have attended The 3rd National Oil Painting Exhibition, The 10th and 11th National Art Exhibition, Love for the Yellow Earth—Chinese Painting and Oil Painting Exhibition of Western China, and more than 30 times of other national and provincial art exhibitions. His works and academic papers have been published in art publications and works collected for more than 100 items like Art Observation, Art Research, Chinese Oil Painting, Art Guide. He has held solo art exhibition and united exhibition in National Art Gallery of China, Art Gallery of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Hunan Museum, etc. His works attended the Hangzhou Jiabao Auction and Guangzhou Guardian Auction. Some of his works were collected by Central Academy of Fine Arts, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum, Yunnan International Conference and Exhibition Centre, Sanmudi Art Gallery, Xinglong Group and other national and private enterprises, galleries and collectors.
