1935年生于江西省赣州市，1955年毕业于赣州第一中学，1961年毕业于广州美术学院油画系。现居湖南长沙市。与许多同代人一样，张应中有过艰苦坎坷的人生经历。在坎坷中他寄情于大自然，对自然景色进行了细致的观察与艺术思考，着重领会自然风景中与人的思想情绪相关联的部分，画了大量写生画和记忆画，撰有《绘画与思考》数万言。
Zhang Yingzhong, male, was born in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province in 1935. He graduated from Ganzhou No. 1 Middle School in 1955, Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1961. At present he lives in Changsha, Hunan province.
Same with his contemporaries, he has gone through hard and tough times when he committed emotions to nature, did careful observation to scenery, made deep thought over art, and paid special attention to the combination between scenery of nature and emotion of human being. He painted a lot of sketches and memory paintings, and wrote thousands words of “Painting and Thought”.
